It's time for the Furry Scurry again -- hooray!
Many of you reading this will have already gotten an e-mail from me, inviting you to join the team or donate, so I apologize for beating you over the head (but you have registered, haven't you??).
For those who don't know what a Furry Scurry is, it's a fundraiser for the Denver Dumb Friends League (from which I adopted my own furball, Sya). Take a few thousand walkers (and runners -- though I can't imagine why you would run, unless a pack of dogs is chasing you....oh, wait....), and their dogs. Put them all in a large park (Washington Park in Denver, to be specific), and have them walk about 2k around the lake. Let the hilarity begin.
Last year, Sya's vocalizations -- which I compare to a 13-year-old girl screaming "ohmiGAWD, I'm like, totally so exCITEd! SERiously? OhmiGAWD!" -- started about a block before the parking lot, when she figured out that something interesting was going on. She didn't stop going on and ON until well after we'd registered (which was tricky to do, as I just couldn't stop laughing at her). Friends Jerrilynn & Nichelle, with dogs Flounder and Oz, respectively, joined me for the walk itself, and we had a lovely walk. Mostly. There was penty of slobber (from the dogs, not us)
I'm hoping to raise enough in pledges this year to get the sweatshirt. Not becuase I need a sweatshirt, per se, but because that's a pretty good goal. If you can help, I'd love to have you either join the team and walk with us (dog not required -- heck, there might even be someone who has an extra dog, as they ask that it be 1 person:1 dog) or donate.
If you'd like to walk with us, you can register as part of the Cendant team online. Why part of Cendant? Because you get a $5 break on the registration fee. Because we can pool our money and say "Oooh, lookeee how much we've raised!". Because maybe I can finagle a box of donuts and some OJ out of the events committee.
Not interested in/available for walking, but still wanna get a little tax deduction out of it? Sponsor me! Any li'l donation you can make goes straight to the DDFL, and they really do some excellent work in the community.
Now.....where did I put that lint roller?
